NoamExactly. Today is not a new story. It is strict review.

MayaFirst, just listen to the Hebrew. Don't translate every word yet. Let it wash over you.

Noamמוכנים? Ready? Let's hear the two sentences together.

Noamמדענים מצאו חיות חדשות. החיות חיות עמוק במים.

MayaBeautiful. Let's hear that again, still slow.

Mayaמדענים מצאו חיות חדשות. החיות חיות עמוק במים.

NoamAnd one more time, a little more natural, but still friendly.

Noamמדענים מצאו חיות חדשות. החיות חיות עמוק במים.

MayaIf that felt like a lot, that is completely okay.

Noamכן. Your ear just heard real Hebrew across two sentences.

MayaAnd you already know the meaning. The first sentence is: Scientists found new animals.

Noamמדענים מצאו חיות חדשות.

MayaThe second sentence is: The animals live deep in the water.

Noamהחיות חיות עמוק במים.

MayaSo together, the idea is simple: scientists found new animals, and those animals live deep in the water.

NoamNow let's walk through the Hebrew again and maybe do a little quiz.

NoamFirst one: how do we say scientists? Hint: think of mad scientists. That mad sound at the beginning can help.

NoamHow do we say found?

Mayaמצאו. I can't think of a good way to remember it, so we'll just have to repeat it until it starts to feel familiar.

NoamHow do we say new animals? Hint: for animals, use l'chaim, like a toast. Use the חי sound. We're toasting to life, and animals are living things.

Mayaחיות חדשות. And חדשות can also mean news or new things.

NoamNow put it together: Scientists found new animals.

Mayaמדענים מצאו חיות חדשות.

NoamNice. Now the second sentence. How do we say the animals? Hint: take חיות, animals, and add the little ha sound at the front for "the".

MayaAdd the little ha... החיות.

NoamHow do we say live? Same life hook: l'chaim means to life. Here, חיות means live.

MayaSame life word... חיות.

NoamHow do we say deep in the water? I'm thinking about how you said the word for water makes you think of Miami.

Mayaעמוק במים. The מים in Miami beach.

NoamThat's right. מים is water and don't forget to add the b sound at the front for in the water. במים

NoamNow the whole sentence: The animals live deep in the water.

Mayaהחיות חיות עמוק במים.

NoamExcellent. And if you only recognized one or two pieces, that still counts.

MayaYes. Recognition is progress. Especially with real Hebrew.
